Rachel was born February 13, 1951 in Brunswick, Georgia to Earl and Carolyn Stapleton. She graduated from Glynn Academy in 1969. After high school, Rachel attended Georgia Southern College and received her teaching degree following in the footsteps of her parents who were both Glynn County educators. She taught briefly in Glynn County and retired from Camden County Schools after 30 years of service.
Rachel’s parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Andrew Taylor of St. Simons Island; sons, Chaz and Robert Vann of Darien; two sisters, Carol S. Gainous of Brunswick and Clyde S. Lyons of Savannah; one grandchild, Ella Grace Vann; three nieces and a nephew.
Rachel enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading and spending time with her granddaughter. She will be missed by her family and loyal friends.
The family will receive friends Monday, August 12th from 6 to 8 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
