Dr. Robert John Cassidy, 90, longtime resident of Jekyll Island, Georgia, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 surrounded by his loving family and friends. "Hoppy", as his friends knew him, enjoyed a long and rich life. He was the beloved husband of the late Doris Cassidy, the loving father of four daughters, Claudia, Deborah, Maureen and Laura and a devoted grandfather. A graduate of Syracuse University and Albany Medical College, Bob was a highly respected physician, professor and supporter of the arts. A true Renaissance man and a lover of nature, he pursued his passions throughout his life.
Memorial services will be conducted by Bert Cramer at the Jekyll Island Presbyterian Church, on Saturday, July 12th at 10 AM.
A celebration of his life will be held in Upstate New York at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his honor to the Georgia Sea Turtle Center or a charity of your choice.
