Robert Steven Houston

Robert Steven Houston, 56, of Hortense, GA. died Friday August 6, 2010 at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 3 pm. Monday August 9, 2010 in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Linton officiating. Interment will follow the service in Piney Grove Cemetery in Waycross, GA. Serving pallbearers are Robbie Lee, Joshua Lee, Jeremy Smith, Jeff Goodwin, and John Paul Libby.

Family will receive friends from 6 pm. – 8 pm. Sunday August 8, 2010 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick, GA.

Mr. Houston was a native of Greenville, South Carolina, born April 7, 1954 to the late John Robert and the late Josephine Houston. He had been a resident of Brantley County for the past six years.

Mr. Houston was a 1972 class graduate of Easley High School in Easley S. C. and attended Clemson University where he majored in business management. He was a screen printer by trade employed by Robert’s Bargains in Easley, South Carolina. Mr. Houston enjoyed his Ham radio and was especially proud of his call sign (KF4GGJ). He was also a member of the Glenwood Baptist Church Easley, S.C.

In addition to Mr. Houston’s parents he is preceded in death by his lifelong friend Mike Moser who was Steve’s kidney donor.

Mr. Houston leaves behind his loving wife Tana Lee Houston of Hortense, GA., three sisters Cheryl Zimmerman and husband Dow of Easley, S.C., Marla Libby and husband John of Greenville, S.C., and Tami Richardson of Easley, S.C., his mother-in-law Colleen Lee of Hortense, GA., his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Eddie Lee and wife Kathy of Brunswick, GA., his seven nephews Jeff Goodwin of Hinesville, GA., John Paul Libby of Greenville, S.C., Robbie Lee, Joshua Lee, and Jeremy Smith all of Brunswick, GA., Perry Gantt of Anderson, S.C., and Sam Gantt of Easley, S.C., his two nieces Jessie Clark and husband Rance of Savannah, GA., Lauren Lee of Brunswick, GA., and numerous uncles and aunts.
