

Robert Paul Walczak, Sr., 81, of Darien, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024, at in Savannah. A Celebration of Life will take place at 6 PM on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
Robert was born on December 16, 1942, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to the late George and Valeria K. Walczak. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy for four years, which eventually brought him to Glynco. He then devoted 42 years to his career at Georgia Power, eventually becoming the local manager in Darien. Since 1978, Robert proudly called McIntosh County home, where he actively contributed to the community as a school board member, a member of the Industrial Authority board, a Boy Scout leader, a member of the Lions Club, and an active member of the McIntosh Chamber of Commerce. He was also a long-standing member of Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church. Robert had a deep love for the outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, and camping.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Wynell B. Walczak of Darien; his four children, Amy Haugen and her husband Mike of St. Simons Island, Kelly Shell and her husband Jeff, Robert "Bert" Walczak, Jr. and his wife Michelle, and Patrick George Walczak and his wife Jessica, all of Darien; ten grandchildren, Shawn Haugen, Zach Haugen, Abby Haugen, Keagan Carter, Klayton Carter, Kinlee Carter, Madison Walczak, Ryder Walczak, Calvin Thigpen, and Raegan Walczak; and four great-grandchildren, Ella Haugen, Evin Haugen, Millie Kay Carter, and Shepherd Carter. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Walczak and his wife Donna of Ellsworth, WI, as well as several nieces and cousins.
The family will welcome friends on Wednesday evening, August 28, 2024, from 5 PM until the time of service at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
