Bobbie was born February 19, 1951 in Brunswick, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Raymond Lamar Davis Sr. and the late Sibyl Parker Davis. A graduate of Glynn Academy and a lifelong resident of Glynn County; she later earned her B.S degree in nursing and was a Registered Nurse with Southeast Georgia Health System. She was the third-generation owner of Roberta’s by The Sea on Saint Simons Island. She was a member of the Saint Simons Civinettes and the Pier Village Association.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Lamar “Racehorse” Davis Sr. and Sibyl Parker Davis; her brother, Raymond Lamar “Pic” Davis Jr; one sister, Sylvia Ann “Meeps” Torbett.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, Jason Smith and his girlfriend Chelsea Love of Saint Simons Island, GA; her life Partner of twenty-seven years, Mark Covington of Saint Simons Island, GA; her granddaughter, Avery Smith of Saint Simons Island, GA; her nieces, Jennifer Lauren Hunt and Kim Zamborie Sumek; and her nephews Lamar Adriene “LAD” Davis, Todd Zamborie Sumek; a great niece, Rose-Grace Hunt; one honorary son and daughter-in-law, Nick and Aarti Covington of Valdosta, GA; honorary granddaughters, Dia Palmer and Ali Love; also one honorary grandson, Drew Covington; and her canine companions Dixie and Rocky.
Bobbie loved to spend time with family and friends. She was the event planner for all family gatherings. She enjoyed gardening and her favorite flower was the Camellia. Bobbie also enjoyed decorating and volunteered her time to decorate the pier for many events throughout the years. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family will have many fond memories to cherish for years to come.
A Graveside Memorial Service to honor her life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 2, 2018 in Christ Church Cemetery with Elder Ron Scarboro officiating. A reception will follow the service at the Davis residence, 705 Page Ct, St Simons Island.
