Sonja Demarius Svendsen Fenn Wacin Gleaton Tiller was welcomed into her heavenly home Sunday, September 25th, exactly three months before her 86th birthday. She was a much-loved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. With her vivacious larger than life personality, she became a friend to nearly all she met.
Grandma Soni, as she was fondly known, was the life of the party, a true character. She shall always be remembered for her fun and loving nature.
She is survived by her daughters, Carmen Fenn Drake (Gene), Michele Johnson (Kenneth), Sebrina Erskine (John), and Jennifer Wacin Hohman (Bob); Her grandchildren Stephanie Deimling, Richard Fenn Meents; Margaret, Emily, and Kenneth Johnson III, Caroline Anderson; Niki Kirby, Anne Lacey, John Harrison, and Logan Maxwell Erskine; Fore and Ham Hohman; Her great grandchildren Holden, Beau, and Ansley Meents; Jonathan and Piper West; Emma, Ethan, and Emerson Anderson; Sofia and Jude Kirby.
Additionally, she is survived by her fourth husband, Eric Tiller; brothers, Carl, Harold, and Stanley Svendsen, sister Mary Paulson, as well as numerous favorite nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sonja was born on Christmas Day in 1936 on her beloved St. Simons Island to Carl Olaf and Mary Louise Svendsen Jr. She was raised on St. Simons, graduating from Glynn Academy, class of 1954. She later relocated to Belvidere, IL then to Orange Park, FL and ultimately retired in Darien, GA.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, first husband and childhood sweetheart Richard Hume Fenn, second husband James O. Wacin, and third husband Donald Gleaton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Georgia Coastal Historical Society (The St. Simons Lighthouse). St. Simons Island, Georgia.
Visitation and Funeral Services are being held at 10AM and 11 AM respectively at her church home of Lakeside United Methodist 5572 New Jesup Hwy. Brunswick, GA on October 8th. A private family graveside service follows at Christ Church on St. Simons.
