Talmadge Griffis, Sr.

Talmadge Griffis Sr. 79, a Brunswick resident since 1951, passed away March 8, 2013. A funeral service will be held Monday, March 11, 2013 at 2:30 pm with Rev. Larry Daughtry officiating, burial will follow in Chapel Park Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Jai Fuentes, Ray Brockington, Jr., Tony Griffis, Jr., Allen Young, Kevin Bennett and Sye Thomas. Honorary pallbearers include Greg Satterfield and Ric Woodard. The family will receive friends at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home Monday, from 11:00 am till 1:00 pm.

Talmadge was born April 4, 1933 in Baxley, Georgia to the late Jacob and Alene Griffis. He was the founder of Griffis Transmission and he was a member of Sterling Church of God. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved woodworking. He was a man completely devoted to his loving family.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife Eleanor Griffis, his son Tony Griffis, Sr. and his sister Alta Griffis.

Talmadge is survived by a son Eddie Griffis , Jr. (Wanda) , a daughter Sonja Brockington (Roy Sr.) , two sisters Maxine Young and Avinell “Abby” Butler all of Brunswick and a daughter-in-law Rene Griffis . Talmadge is also survived by nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, four nieces, one nephew and many close friends.
