

Teral Lavelle Wheelis, 72, of Brunswick passed away at Hospice of the Golden Isles on March 10, 2022. A graveside service will be conducted at 12 noon on Saturday March 19, 2022 in Ritch Baptist Cemetery in Screven, GA.
Lavelle was born on August 2, 1949 to Curtis Eugene and Eva Mercille (Tootle) Wheelis. He went by Lavelle but was better known as Bubba or Bud.
He spent every summer on his grandfather’s farm in Appling County with sister, Barbara, and cousins, Sandra, Laverne, and his favorite cousin Donnie. He was very close with his younger brother, Tommy. They spent a lot time together throughout their lives. He was a Glynn Academy and after high school he attended a trade school in Americus, Ga where he studied to become a mechanic. After trade school he returned to Brunswick to work at Tidewater for 5 years as a mechanic/welder on logging equipment. He then moved to Stark, FL for 6 yrs. Lavelle then moved to Augusta, GA where he worked with the railroad welding and maintain railroad cars for about 12 yrs.
He then returned to his roots of Brunswick where he worked at Georgia Pacific then Colonel Island for many years. Around the age of 65 he retired and really got to enjoy life. He enjoyed going to Screven on the weekends, He went to truck pulls and tinkering on tractors with his cousin Donnie. He enjoyed watching westerns and his favorite band was C.C.R.
Lavelle was proceeded in death by his grandparents Johnny and Ida Wheelis, Felton and Birdie Tootle, parents, Eugene and Eva Wheelis, brother, Tommy Wheelis, sister, Barbara Moore, and cousin, Laverne Spell.
He is survived by his niece, Saka, and nephews, Tyrone and Cary, great-nieces, Danielle and Elaine, and great-nephews Brad, James, and Jonathan, and cousins, Donnie (Deborah), Sandra, and Nell.
