Tom was born in Jackson, Georgia to parents Thomas Lee Mills and Doris Vivian Maddox Mills. He was a graduate of Sylvan Hills High School, class of 1952 and served the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. Tom was a pioneer in the early years of data processing and programming, and was instrumental in developing the “pay at the pump” technology. He was an active golf and tennis player. In 1997, Tom retired to St. Simons Island.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Sue Garrett Mills and a sister, Carol Wood preceded him in death.
Tom is survived by his son, Michael Andrew Mills and son-in-law, Christopher George Mills, of Brunswick; a brother, Olin Mills and sister-in-law, Carol Mills of Forsyth, GA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 2:00 pm at County Line Baptist Church in Jenkinsburg, Georgia.
