Lovingly known as “Papa”, he is most well known for his unmatched singing ability and his frugal money management guidelines. Recently, the family was able to confirm Papa did indeed still have the first dollar he ever made. A member of the Gypsies and the Sixty Minute Men, his love of music stayed with him through all his days.
Living in Glynn County his entire life, Papa never cared about clothes or fancy trappings for himself. He was a true gentleman who thought more of the world, than the world will ever know. People ate, slept more comfortably, and were allowed better lives because of Ward, who never stood up and took credit for his selfless acts.
Ward is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sara Teston, their children Jamie Teston and Kelley Teston-Woodcock, his only grandchild Joseph “Rosetta” Teston, his Son-In-Law Robert Woodcock, and his extended family Jonathan L’Heureux, Kiara L’Heureux and William “Stanley” Wells. He is also survived by his siblings MaryJo, Joan, and Joyce, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, December 8th, 2023, at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home on Highway 17 from 10am to 11am. The funeral will follow visitation, beginning at 11am at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
The next time a thunderstorm blows up in Glynn County, open your windows. It will be an opportunity to hear the band warming up for Ward’s next all-star performance and his first formal performance in heaven.
