Wendell Aveston Brinson Sr.

Wendell Aveston Brinson Sr. passed away Friday, June 12, 2015, at Hospice of The Golden Isles. Mr. Brinson was a native of Soperton, Georgia residing in Glynn County since 1951. He was a veteran, serving in the United States Army and the United States National Guard. He was also employed with Glynn Academy, the Camden County School system. In the mid- 1960’s he was employed with the Georgia State Civil Defense which became GEMA and retired in 1993. Mr. Brinson was a Baptist by faith. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and swimming.

Mr. Brinson is preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Janet W. Brinson, his son Mr. Bill Brinson, and two brothers.

He is survived by one son; Wendell A. Brinson Jr, one daughter; Wynette B. Addison (Gary) (both of Brunswick,GA), one daughter -in-law; Sherry Brinson (Memphis,TN), three grandchildren; Aveston Addison, Brandon Brinson (Misty), and Corey Brinson (Christina), three great grandchildren; Ashton Brinson, Khloe Brinson, and Aaliyah Powell, two step-grandchildren; Joni Cleghorne (Todd), and Marci Walker (all of Brunswick, GA), one sister; Montell Truitt (Paul)(Stuart,FL), one brother; Kimball Brinson (St. Mary’s, GA), six step-great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Brinson will be held Monday, June 15, 2015 from 6-8:00 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held the following day, Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at 11:00 AM in the Norwich Baptist Church with Dr. Arthur Cyphers officiating. Interment will follow the service at Palemetto Cemetery. Mr. Todd Cleghorne, Mr. Ronnie McCormick, Mr. Brandon Brinson, Mr. Corey Brinson, Mr. James Way Jr, and Mr. Gill Mock will serve as active pallbearers.
