

Werner Walter “Walt” Ihde, Sr., 65, of Darien, departed this life Friday, January 19, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 am Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Glory Worship Center in Darien with Apostle Lee Brandt officiating.
Born October 25, 1958, in Miami, Florida to the late Werner Franz and Ingeborg Gertrude L. Ihde, he was most recently a chef at Coastal College of Georgia, worked at Sea Palms and spent the majority of his career as a Pastry Chef at Sea Island for over 30 years. Mr. Ihde had been a resident of Darien for the past 33 years. He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, spending time with his family giving out hugs and kisses, and was an avid UGA Bulldog fan. He was a member and Deacon at Glory Worship Center in Darien.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Susan Gault Ihde of Darien, six children, Summer Whitten of Brunswick, April Ihde Onofre and husband Erick of Seattle, WA, Jessica McClenithan and husband Michael of Darien, Michael Horne and Susie Harris of Jones, Walter Ihde, II and wife Margie of Darien, and Tyler Ihde and fiancé Falyn Bond of Townsend, 11 grandchildren; Alexas, Asah, Arkaydia, Haylee, Addyson, Wayne, Adam, Cameron, Kyle, Merritt and Nathanael and 4 great grandchildren; Karter, Kameron, Kyleigh and Apollo and a sister, Margrit Dupe and husband Mike of Ft. Walton, FL.
A celebration of Life will take place Tuesday evening, January 23, 2024, from 6 pm until 8pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, those attending are encouraged to wear red and black UGA Bulldog colors. www.edomillerandsons.com
