William Carl Cumby, age 37, left this world to meet His Savior on Sunday, September 21, 2014. Billy was the son of Robert Gary and Deborah Cumby of St. Simons Island. He was the proud Dad of William Elijah, Caleb Enoch and Chloe Re’Anna. He is survived by maternal grandparents, Carl W. and Gloria Johnson of Blairsville, Georgia, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Billy grew up in Gwinnett County, Georgia and was educated in Christian schools, and homeschooled. He gave his life to the Lord at an early age and desired to preach the Word. His travels as an evangelist took him to over 13 states in the U.S. Billy also went to Mexico and Panama on mission endeavors.
Billy was a sports enthusiast, who could be heard yelling loudly at the television when his team was not winning. As a youngster he played baseball, soccer and basketball. He also coached sports teams on which his children were players.
His desire was to spread the Gospel, and he was aware that being a little person gave him an extra edge. He was known as the Little Man of God.
Grateful thanks are extended to Greenville Memorial Hospital staff, especially the 5th floor and ICU. They treated Billy with dignity and kindness. Appreciation is extended to the Crocker families of Greenville and Anderson, the congregation of New Start Pentecostal Church and special friends, Bob and Carol Penland.
Viewing will be at Glynn Haven Baptist Church, 201 Atlantic Dr., St. Simons Island on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.
