

William H. “Dub” Reeves, age 83, of Brunswick, went to be with the Lord peacefully while surrounded by his family at his home on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 under the care of hospice. Mr. Reeves was a veteran of the US Navy and retired from Brunswick Pulp and Paper after 33 years of service. He attended Lighthouse Baptist Church and enjoyed sports and spending time with his large family. He was often called the “Mayor” of Nottingham because he served as a mentor to the neighborhood kids and enjoyed looking out for his neighbors. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Elliott Reeves; a grandson, Brad Manuel; a brother, David Reeves; and two sisters, Dorothy Howell and Mary Welch.
He is survived by a son, Bill “Fur” Reeves (Jane) of Brunswick; six daughters, Judy Manuel of Morgan City, LA, Barbara Spannuth (Ron) of Brunswick, Brenda Reeves of Brunswick, Dubbie Kehle (Rodney) of Eulonia, Edith Farmer of Brunswick and Donna Reeves of Brunswick; a sister, Georgia Young of Sugartown, LA; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 14, 2012 in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Reverend David Hudson and Sam Bowen officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Chapel Park Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Sam Bowen, Lance McLain, Buck McCormick, Roger Farmer, Michael Meece and Scotty Manuel. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Amie, Dr. David Heine, Dr. Wellman and Willie Williams.
