It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Adele Burroughs of Calgary, Alberta, on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at the age of 92. Adele passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of immense generosity, warmth, and adventure.
Adele was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Raymond George Burroughs. Together, they built a life rooted in family and love.
Born with a generous heart in Insinger, Saskatchewan, Adele was best known for her desire to help others. She moved through the world with an open hand and a compassionate soul, putting the needs of friends and family above her own. Her home was a haven of hospitality, fueled by her incredible talent as a cook and baker. No one ever left her table hungry, and her kitchen was always filled with the comforting scents of her latest creations.
An avid hunter of hidden treasures, Adele loved thrifting and exploring garage sales, always possessing a keen eye for unique finds. Her curiosity also took her far beyond Calgary, as she travelled the world with Ray, embracing new cultures and collecting a lifetime of vibrant stories.
Above all, Adele was a devoted matriarch. Her family was her pride and joy. She is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her daughters, Lisa Loewen (Butch) and Tara Bader (Gary). She was a cherished grandmother to Jordan Bader, Mitchell Bader, and Henry Loewen, and a step-grandmother to Robert Loewen (Christa) and Joseph Loewen. She also leaves behind sisters Anne and Iris (Victor) and brothers Jim (Ilene), Peter (Judy) and Jerry (Judy), her many cherished nieces and nephews and her step-great-grandchildren, Olivia and Jacob.
A Celebration of Adele’s Life will be held at Foster's Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery), on Wednesday August 5, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
