Adele Pauline Ericson

Adele was born in Minnedosa, Manitoba, to Edwin Claude Ericson and Elsie Catherine Ericson (née Olson). The middle of three girls, she grew up on the family dairy farm. Adele went on to complete her nurses' training at Winnipeg Grace Hospital. After marrying, she lived in Camrose, Alberta, where her first daughter, Beverly, was born. Her second daughter, Barbara, was born the following year in Minnedosa. Adele continued nursing at Ballard Hospital in Seattle, Washington, and later at Booth Home in Chicago, Illinois, where her daughters Judy and Joyce were born. The Oman family eventually returned to Canada, settling in Calgary, where Adele spent the remainder of her life.

Adele worked hard and brought beauty to her homes through her creative, inventive mind. To her daughters, she was a model of independence and self-sufficiency. If she did not know how to do something, she welcomed it as a challenge to learn a new skill—and she usually mastered it to perfection. As she aged, Adele embraced fitness and travel, always keeping skiing, golf, and hiking on her calendar. She was a wonderful example to all her descendants, truly living out her motto: Happy, Healthy, and Aging! Raised in the Swedish Covenant Church, her faith in God remained steadfast throughout her life. In her final years, singing hymns brought her deep peace and joy. She was blessed to pass away in the presence of her granddaughter, Sara.

Adele was predeceased by her sister, Audrey Anderson, and her daughter, Judy Westman. Her life is lovingly remembered by her daughters Beverly Groft (Monte), Barbara Macpherson (Ron), and Joyce Schmidt (Arlen); her son-in-law, Don Westman; and her beloved little sister, Brenda Korchinski (Larry).

"Grandma Del" was extremely proud of her nine grandchildren scattered along the West Coast and her seven great-grandchildren.

In keeping with Adele’s wishes, there will be no public funeral. Instead, she simply asked for a nice song to be sung. Her family will gather privately to cherish her memory and sing some of her favorite hymns.
