It is with great love and sadness that we say goodbye to our dear little boy Albie, who passed away unexpectedly in Calgary, Alberta on Monday, March 4, 2019 after a short illness, at the age of 7 years.

Even though his time with us was too short, he has brought immeasurable joy and brightness to our lives. He enriched all of us who loved him with his laughter, his strength and his love. His courage and good humour in overcoming the challenges he faced were an inspiration to his family, friends, and teachers.

Albert loved playing with his little brother Henry, swimming, listening to and making music, riding his adapted bicycle, swinging, being read to, and laughing whenever someone burped, coughed or sneezed.

He will always be in the hearts of his parents, Amie and Jonathan, and brother Henry; grandparents, Frances and Peter Jucker, and Elizabeth and David Kiddle; his aunt Jennie, uncle Rob, and cousins Amelia and Thomas; his aunt Simone, uncle Chris, and cousins Nicholas, Hazel, and Emma; as well as many other family and friends, and of course his cat Max.

So many amazing teachers, therapists, and caregivers played important roles in Albert’s life. His family is so grateful for their energy, passion and dedication over the years. We also thank the staff at the Alberta Children’s Hospital and Rotary Flames House for their care and compassion.

Donations can be made in Albert’s memory to Emily Follensbee School (5139 14 St S.W., Calgary, Alberta T2T 3W5), or Cerebral Palsy Kids and Families (#121 - 7015 Macleod Trail S.W. Calgary Alberta T2H 2K6).

Guillaume, Mathilde and I will remember you with great fondness. We had always a good time with you, your brother and your parents. A lot of pleasant memories to cherish come to mind: the swimming pool, the cabin, brunches and good laughs, drinks at nights when you and Henry were sleeping. We hope you are in a good place and send our heartfelt condolences to your parents, grandparents, relatives and friends.

Though I only knew Albert for a short time, it was a true honour and a privilege to be in his presence. His efferevescent personality , resilience, and the positivity with which he faced his challenges were nothing short of remarkable. Though I did not have the opportunity to get to know his family, I could and can see, that the clearing of joy and love that they are was the space for Albert to show up that way too. I will never forget your beautiful son, and he and his infectious smile will hold a special place in my heart always. My heart is with your family as you traverse this journey. May you be surrounded by love, comfort, peace, community, and strength today and in the days ahead.

Albert, you were a friend to so many including me. Planning camps take hours and hours and you never know how things will work out, but you always made the hours of planning worthwhile. You always enjoyed the silliness, the dress up and competitions. You always immersed yourself in everything thrown your way and our years together can only be described as FUN. I'll always remember setting you up in position to try to work, yet you would wiggle and kick yourself out of position just from the pure excitement of the game we were getting ready to play. I'll also remember when you chose Anci to walk with you over me and my heart was broken, but you knew that and chose me the week after, showing what a big heart you had for so many.

Love you Amie, Jonathan, Henry and the rest of the family. It's true that you have been an inspiration to so many on how to love, advocate and ensure Albert had the best quality of life xxxx

I've attached a picture from 'Around the world camp', face painted on India theme day!

All of our memories of Albert are so happy. When I think of what to share, the times we spent at William Watson Lodge come to mind. I remember Amie singing to Albert during dinners, and you could just feel all the love your family has for one another. Also, going trick or treating down the block (with his great costumes!) and seeing the joy on everyone's faces when he came to the door. He was so special.

Amie, Jonathan & Henry,
My heart aches for you in the loss of your precious Albie. His life was so full of love, laughter, and victories. Coming alongside you and Albert’s awesome developmental aides and caregivers in support of his skill development was an honour and privilege. Your family plays naturally, works tirelessly and loves deeply, and memories of our time together will be in my heart forever. I will sing “zoom, zoom, zoom, we’re going to the moon” often and remember all the fun we had and how blessed I am for knowing Albie.

Sending the hugest love & hugs!!

Whether it was following him online, or running into Albert @ Vecova, seeing his glorious smile was always a treat that put anyone in a good mood—what a lust for life!! To see his excitement in the water, or with his cat, and then his little brother, so precious!

Keep all the wonderful memories alive for Henry, and yourselves, and he will grow-up with all of Albert’s strength & perseverance, and the confidence that his older brother is always watching out for him! Xoxo

Sending so much love to you all. I only met Albie once (when he was a tiny little baby, and you were passing through Waterville, Maine), but his radiant and infectious smile in all the photos made it clear how special and joyful he was. Nico, Brian, and I are all thinking of you, and sending our best wishes for a beautiful remembrance.

A big hug,
