

If anyone ever cared, really cared for someone else it would have to be Alexa Louise Gregg (Schrag). She was a warm hearted and well liked individual, and these wonderful traits came easily to her because she was such a sociable and amiable person, someone who was always making certain that those around her had whatever they needed. Alexa was a talkative person who was tactful at all times but typically said what she meant.
Alexa was born on Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. She was the daughter of Robert and Linda Schrag. Alexa was raised in Calgary ,Alberta and Coaldale Alberta. During her childhood she learned to be reliable and respectful. Alexa was an obedient child but did, on occasion, have a rebellious side. She found it easy to show sympathy and to perform kind acts for others. These admirable qualities would become a part of Alexa's personality throughout her life.
Though Alexa was frequently the one to initiate games and activities with her family, she was also quite often the family member who took the role of referee. Alexa was a peace-maker with an ability to resolve all sorts of family conflicts. In fact, Alexa worked conscientiously to keep those typical family spats at bay. She had an older brother, Andrew and an older sister, Leandra. Alexa and her siblings had the typical rivalries while growing up, but they cared deeply for one another.
As someone who reveled in the sheer joy of her experiences, Alexa was always enthusiastic about new adventures. One thing Alexa will certainly be remembered for is that, when she got up in the mornings, she was ready and raring to go. As a young girl, Alexa had a number of interests and was an active child but also loved spending time on the swing set, observing activities around her. Alexa took part in swimming, figure skating and school team sports and was in Girl Guides.
For Alexa, the school routines were never a problem although she generally preferred variety to structure. She seemed to be able to start a project, work right through to its completion, quickly and efficiently. Alexa was also adept at details and was very observant and was generally quick at picking up new things. She graduated from Kate Andrews High School in Coaldale, Alberta in 1989. She enjoyed some courses more than others, having favorite classes and teachers.
College can be a challenge, but Alexa appeared to be well equipped to succeed. She had a knack for staying focused and on track no matter what was going on around her. Alexa had the ability to work undisturbed through all of the constant interruptions that are a regular part of college life. She knew the facts and rarely made factual errors. She earned her Drafting Certificate from Lethbridge Community College in 1993.
There was one thing that all of Alexa's friends knew and will still remember, and that is that she was a talker. She could pretty much talk to anybody about anything. This quality is one of the primary reasons that Alexa was such a popular person throughout her life. But Alexa was also dependable, loyal and trustworthy. Alexa was the kind of person who simply radiated good fellowship. While she maintained personal standards and her own personal values, Alexa was very accepting of others. With a distinct skill for working things out, Alexa was often the person who would organize events. In fact, she was fairly comfortable playing the role of “host” for just about any occasion. When Alexa made friends, she made true and lasting friendships. While growing up, some of her best friends were Karen Vanden Elzen, Kara Hanzel, Nancy Uchimura, Annie Blank, Patricia Eringfeld, who were also friends for life. Later, she became friends with Renee and Ken Beanlands, Rob and Carrie Hoover, Patti Frick, Leah Cooney, Deanna Bensler.
Taking her work seriously came naturally to Alexa, and she expected the same from those around her. Alexa was a good team player, someone who was born to cooperate with others. She was what some would call a “people person” and it was demonstrated in her good communication skills. Alexa was a steady worker, one who was realistic about schedules. She could understand the details without getting lost in the broad “big picture.” Her primary occupation a drafting technologist. The last company she worked for was Primary Engineering where she was well respected having being named Employee of the Month on several occasions. She brought harmony to her work environment, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done, while always maintaining respect for her colleagues.
Alexa enjoyed spending time working on her various hobbies. She had no problem following all of the steps and instructions on a given project and was proud of the fact that she could have something to show for her efforts. Her favorite pursuits were camping with her friends and children, gardening, pottery, crocheting and her pets.
Alexa was one of those people who took pride in constantly putting forth her best effort. Nowhere was that more visible than in sports. She was always enthusiastic and a great team player in high school, where she played basketball, baseball, figure skated, and golfed. Recreational sports included golfing, walking dogs and gardening. Alexa also liked being a sports fan and enjoyed following her favorite teams whenever she got the opportunity. Tops on her list were curling, golfing and CFL football.
Alexa and her children, Benjamin and Katelynn, enjoy traveling, but she also seemed to enjoy planning all of those trips and vacations. She was a facilitator who could easily make up a near perfect schedule of all of the things to do and see. She rarely tired of going back and revisiting her favorite places. Favorite vacations included travelling to far away places, camping with her children.
Alexa was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. She has owned a turtle as well as several cats and dogs. She owned and operated a successful dog walking business. She has had pets on and off through her whole life.
Alexa was a down to earth person, outgoing and gregarious. She was without question the type of person who enjoyed experiencing things first hand. She was practical and sensible, but what friends and family will remember her for most is the fact that she was so understanding and kind. Everyone whose life she touched will miss Alexa Louise Gregg (Schrag).

Alexa was the beloved youngest daughter of Robert and Linda Schrag, born in Calgary, Alberta and raised there until 1982 when the family moved to Coaldale, Alberta. Alexa graduated from Lethbridge Collegiate Institute with her certificate in Drafting Technology and worked in that field throughout her adult life.
Given Alexa’s love of animals, it was not surprising that she also started her own successful dog walking business - Hound Hikers - and had many treasured clients.
Alexa was a dedicated mother, a lover of animals and nature and an enthusiast of the arts. She loved the excitement of movies, the peacefulness of a good book and the smell of a freshly weeded, just watered garden. All these things, along with her quick wit and genuine heart led her to wonderful lifelong friendships.
Left to cherish her memory are her beautiful children, Ben and Katie; parents Robert and Linda; loving brother Andrew (Karin); nephew Zachary; nieces Emily and Katarina, devoted sister Leandra; uncles Marvin Foulkes, Robert Foulkes; aunt Bonny (Les Jesperson); and many cousins and friends.
