Alex was a natural born athlete, excelling in both baseball and hockey. He played pitcher for the Calgary Southland League at an all-star level. Watching the Blue Jays and playing baseball catch were favourite pastimes. In hockey, he played defence but was known for his great assists. He played at a Junior B level with the Calgary Royals. He had a passion for speed and loved his motorcycle, finding solace on the open road. Alex was also known for his incredible backflips off the highest cliffs or bridges he could find.
Alex worked hard, making his living as a Red Seal, B Pressure welder with exceptional talent.
His most cherished time was spent with his beloved daughters, “Maya Sweets” and “Charlie Beans”. There was nothing that meant more to him than spending time with the girls and Jenna. He could not have been more proud of them, taking delight in everything they said and did.
Alex will be deeply missed but his memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him. He will be remembered for his big laugh, his big hugs, his big heart, and the joy he found in the smallest things in life.
A Celebration of Alex’s Life will be held at South Calgary Funeral Centre at 12700 Macleod Trail South on October 28, 2026 at 1:00 pm.
