Angele Kwon, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully in Calgary, Alberta, on Monday, July 20, 2026, at the age of 63, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Port Louis, Mauritius, on March 3, 1963, Angele was the youngest of eleven children. At the age of 20, she immigrated to Canada and settled in Calgary, Alberta, where she later met her husband, Sylvio. Together they built a life in Calgary, where they raised their two sons.
Angele began her career with the Calgary Police Service before continuing with Air Canada. Her love of learning eventually led her to pursue a career as an accountant with Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL), where she dedicated 28 years before retiring in 2023. Throughout her career, she built lasting friendships with colleagues who became like family.
Outside of work, Angele cherished spending time with her family. She loved travelling, especially with her family, to warm destinations where she could enjoy the sunshine, relax on the beach, and pick fresh fruits. She also enjoyed staying active and spending time at the gym with her friends, continuing to exercise whenever she was able—even throughout much of her cancer treatments.
Angele's family was at the heart of everything she did. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, and someone who lived a life guided by faith, compassion, and generosity. Thoughtful, humble, and selfless, she always put others first and found joy in caring for the people she loved. No matter what life brought her, Angele carried herself with a beautiful smile, a positive outlook, and a quiet strength that inspired everyone around her. She was always ready to offer encouragement, lend a helping hand, or simply listen whenever someone needed her.
Angele will be remembered for her warm heart, genuine kindness, and the smile she brought to everyone she met. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed, cared for, and loved, and her generosity touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Sylvio; her sons, Jason and James; her brothers and sisters, Jimmy (Aline), Roger (Marie), Tony (Annick), Brigitte (Paul), Margaret (late Louis), Francois (Jeanette), Marie Louise (Tony), Danielle (Sylveste), and Albert (Linda); her many nieces and nephews; extended family across Canada, Mauritius, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, and around the world; and her many dear friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Stephen Thomas Kwon and Chin Sui Lien Kwon, and her beloved brother, Sze Fa Kwon.
Angele's beautiful smile, quiet strength, and unconditional love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Michael Catholic Community, 800–85 Street SW, Calgary, Alberta T3H 4C7, on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed.
