Anita Marie Belisle was born on March 19, 1959 in Jasper, Alberta. Anita had a variety of careers including a Schneider’s sales rep, Tupperware lady, Site Manager, Educator, Licenced Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse, and a Nurse Clinician. There was nothing she couldn’t accomplish if she put her mind to it. Her true passion was nursing and even in her hardest days, found opportunities to teach and foster nursing students. Other than motherhood, her most proud moment was completing her nursing degree later in life.
Anita moved from Dawson Creek, British Columbia to Calgary, Alberta in 1978, with her high school sweetheart. Together they started a family and created an extensive network of new friends and family. Anita resided in the neighbourhood of Oakridge for almost 30 years. This is where you could find her volunteering with the Girl Guides of Canada, organizing the patrollers, working with the parent council group, revitalizing the Louis Riel Naturalization Park, helping with community and club basketball teams, cheering on every basketball team in Calgary and participating in the PALS program (to name a few).
Anita was passionate about seeking out adventure and being active throughout her life whether it was curling, bike riding around the reservoir, running a half marathon, playing ladies league golf, a career ending basketball game or starting CrossFit in her late 50s. She made you feel loved, welcomed, supported, and she was considered a stand-in mom for many.
Anita was a mother, grandmother, wife, sister, daughter, aunt, and a friend. She was fiercely independent, strong, caring, social, and loving.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 9th, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Hillhurst United Church (1227 Kensington Close NW, Calgary, AB).
