Anne was born in Sifton Manitoba to Michael and Pauline Evasiuk. She was the 6th of 8 siblings. Anne left the farm in Sifton and went to Business College in Winnipeg. She then went to Toronto where she met Ronald Lawton, a Canadian soldier and they were married in 1950. They were posted to almost every province in Canada as well as to Germany. They ultimately settled in Calgary where Anne spent her last 28 years at Sarcee Meadows cultivating many dear friends. Together they had 5 children, Ray (Helen) Lawton of Prince George, Denise (Robert) Melbourne of High River, Jim (Judy) Lawton of Turner Valley, John (Pat) Lawton of Lethbridge and Chris (Robyn) Lawton of Calgary.
Anne was an independent, or as she would say a stubborn Ukrainian who was always up for an adventure, a hot air balloon ride for her 85th birthday and a ride in a glider for her 90th birthday. On her final day she was planning to make some borscht and apple pie for the family. She was a champion bowler, accomplished golfer and curler with many medals and trophies to attest to her expertise. She was competitive in everything she undertook enjoying her crib gatherings with friends and excited to win the $2.00 pot.
Anne was predeceased by her husband Ronald, brothers Dmetro and William, sisters Helen Lesink, Mary McBean, and Rose McCluskey, sons Ray and Chris and daughter-in-law Helen. She is survived by her sisters Olga Mazur of Toronto, Zenia (Dave) Hunter of California, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
As per her wishes there will be no service, just a family internment, however she would have liked for you to take a moment to remember a special moment you have spent with Anne, with an “e”.
