Born in Amersfoort, Netherlands on January 4, 1934. He immigrated to Canada in 1952, settling in Picture Butte working on the sugar beet farms. He fondly remembered Father John J. O’Brien from St Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church in Picture Butte. Father O’Brien had taken him and other family members in and provided food and shelter when first arriving in Picture Butte. Father O’Brien also had taken them to High River, Alberta where they received employment with the government making walls for housing in Alaska. Tony then moved to Calgary and resided most of his years in (Acadia) where he raised his family whom he loved so very much. He worked in refrigeration maintenance at Canada Packers/Maple Leaf Foods for 33 years.
He was a gentle, kind, caring and loving man who would do anything for his family and friends.
Special thanks to the caring staff at Walden Heights Age Care and also the medical staff at South Health Campus Emergency & Unit 66.
In honour of our father’s wishes no funeral services will be held.
If family and friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, 762 Crescent Ave, Picture Butte, AB, T0K 1V0. (In heart felt thanks to the late Father John J. O’Brien)
