Art enjoyed a 47 year career in the Alberta oil patch, starting as a draftsman with Socony-Vacuum Oil Company before developing his skills as a Petroleum Landman with Bailey Selburn Oil and Gas, Fargo Oil and Gas, Buttes Resources and Grandad Resources. He concluded his participation in the industry as a consultant with Oakwood Petroleum, Canadian Occidental and Enerplus, retiring in 1994. Outside of the office, Art’s pursuits included family time, hiking and skiing around the Canadian west, aviation and travel.
He is survived by his two sons, Brent and Brad, daughter-in-law Beverly Stevens and numerous nieces and nephews, all who remember him with much love and affection. Art was predeceased by Doreen, his beloved wife of 66 years, in October, 2015, his brothers John, Robert and Donald and his sister Yvonne.
The family wishes to thank everyone who provided capable, compassionate and comforting care to Art including Alberta Health Homecare, the staff at Rockyview General Hospital’s Unit 74 and EMS teams.
Cremation in care of Foster’s Garden Chapel. A Celebration of Art’s Life will be held at a later date.
