Barbara Bourne passed away on July 28th 2025 at the age of 82 surrounded by her family at South Calgary Medical Campus. She is lovingly remembered by her husband David, her daughters Rachel and Nicola and her grandchildren Kayla and Riley. She is also survived by her brother David, his wife Carol and their children Rebecca and Adam.
Barbara was born on April 3rd 1943 in Ashton-under-Lyne U.K to Albert George and Marion Nicholls. After high school she worked as a lab technician at St.Marys Hospital working in the dialysis and Crohn's disease units. Barbara met David, the love of her life in 1968 and they married on June 6th, 1970. After marriage they moved to Hazel Grove, Cheshire where they raised their two daughters. Barbara was very active at Hazel Grove Methodist Church and made lifelong friends there. Deciding to immigrate to Calgary, Alberta in 1988 to begin a new chapter, Barbara worked in retail at Rafters for many years. When she retired, she enjoyed traveling to many different countries and enjoyed camping and being in the great outdoors. Barbara and David loved socializing and traveling with friends and family. Barbara also enjoyed playing bingo and card games with friends, doing the New York Times crossword puzzle and reading. She found fulfillment volunteering at the Rockyview Hospital for many years. Her biggest passion however, was her two grandchildren who she adored. Barbara will be missed by all who knew her and we are all deeply saddened by her loss.
