Bernd "Ben" Josef Westermann

Bernd “Ben” Westermann was born in Wuppertal, Germany on February 19, 1954, and immigrated to Canada with his parents, Hermine and Engelbert, at the age of three. He passed away on August 13, 2025, in Alberta.

Ben is survived by his three sons, Lance, Harley, and Lincoln Westermann; his siblings Claus (Brenda), Henry, Andrew (Debbie), Diane (Bruce), and Karl (Bobbie); and many extended family members in Canada and Germany. He was predeceased by his parents.

Ben grew up on a dairy farm and carried a lifelong love of music and spirituality. He played guitar and found comfort in music throughout his life. Although illness created distance in some of his closest relationships, his family remembers him with care and compassion.

Ben was cremated in August 2025. Arrangements remain private.
