Bev Perrault

Bev will be greatly missed and remembered by generations of family in Alberta and beyond, including her three sons; Ward (Wendy – passed), Eric (Ellen), and Rod (Erin); her six grandchildren; Marnie, Jordan (Alice), Ben (Cassie), Josh (Natasha), Murray (Katelyn), and Evan (Madie); and her great grandchildren Wyatt, Azylis, Juliette and Tristan.

She was predeceased in 2017 by her husband of 59 years, Ed. She was also predeceased by her brother Ken (Helen) Murray.

Bev was born to Ada and Harold Murray on March 9, 1937, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, and spent her early years on her family’s farms near Pasqua and Grand Coulee. Bev and Ed met and attended high school together in Grand Coulee and married November 9, 1957. After spending time in Regina, Assiniboia and Moose Jaw, they moved their family west to Calgary in 1967.

During their lives together, both Bev and Ed contributed to many organizations, including Kinsmen and Kinettes along with several groups in their long-time Huntington Hills Community. Bev volunteered with Cubs and Scouts, the Huntington Hills Community Association, all the schools their children attended, and she regularly fund raised for Cancer Research.

Time in the trailer was important to both Bev and Ed. They were long-time members of the Calgary Hobos Trailer Club, with whom they shared many adventures. They were also avid campers on their own, visiting much of Western Canada and the U.S. For years, Bev and Ed could be found at Triple Diamond RV Park where they developed many friendships. When their trailering days ended, they continued to travel visiting family and exploring sites across Canada and the U.S. Even after she stopped traveling, Bev stayed connected through cards she would send for every birthday, anniversary or special life event.

For years, Bev worked hard to support her very busy family and, when things quieted down, she worked in daycares in the Huntington Hills/Beddington area, landing at Thornhill Daycare from where she retired. This last working experience offered Bev the gift of many long-time friendships, reflected in regular lunches at Boston Pizza and the annual “Rock Parties” held in her back yard.

In recent years, Bev had two seasons: gardening and curling/cross-stitch. The garden and flowers were her pride and joy in the summer, and she enjoyed watching and feeding the birds and squirrels all year long. Winter was spent watching curling and listening to gardening shows in preparation for next year. Winter was also the time when she would dig most deeply into her sewing and cross-stitched creations, many of which she shared with family and friends.

Bev’s home was the centre of most family gatherings. Bev’s expansive and warm heart was regularly on display in her amazing cooking and in the beautiful settings which she would lay out; including the many family heirlooms she was entrusted with. Bev knew the stories behind each item (an amazing memory) and her sharing about each piece kept us connected to family and friends that went before. Bev was truly our tie to our past and we will miss that connection greatly.

A Celebration of Life will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Saturday, August 22nd, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.
