This corner of the world has lost a most kind-hearted woman. Gitta passed away on the sunny morning of November 27th, most peacefully, with the love of her sons and their families surrounding her. She was born in Sopron, Hungary in 1933, where she lived before fleeing the Hungarian Revolution in 1956. She moved to the USA and in 1963, Calgary became her home. She is survived by her three sons, Leslie (Bi) and her children Ryan and Kyle Park; Robert (Carolyn) and their children, Alia and Noah; and Chris and his spouse Susie Blakely. She also leaves behind her brother-in-law Louis Kelemen Sr., and her two nephews Louis (Marjorie) Kelemen, Peter Kelemen and niece Kathy (Mike) Bartley and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Leslie in 2006 and her sister Charlotte in March of this year. Gitta was a terrific cook and baker and liked to say that the first ingredient she put in her bowl was love. She moved into the Boardwalk Retirement Community in 2007 where she developed many good friendships leading to some of the happiest years of her life. If she saw someone without a smile, she gave them one, if she saw someone who needed a hug, she gave them one and if she saw a dog without a treat she gave them one. She was dearly loved and will be missed by many. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at Varsity Bible Church, 4807 Valiant Dr N.W., Calgary. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the orphaned and abandoned children of Haiti, a charity that was special to Gitta’s heart.
