Bruno was born on April 29, 1932, in Villa d’Asolo (Pradazzi) in the province of Treviso, Italy, to Paolo and Libera Reginato. Bruno was the sixth child of nine. Bruno completed a couple years of school and then continued to work to help his parents. At the age of 18, Bruno enlisted as a member of an Italian army unit trained to defend Italy in the mountainous terrain, called Alpini. Bruno proudly served his country for two years and was a proud Italian hanging on to his Italian passport for 90 years.
In 1952, Bruno left Italy for his 14-day voyage on the Vulcania ship, crossing oceans to Halifax, Canada, and continued across Canada via train and settled in Calgary, Alberta. In 1956, he married the love of his life Maria Bordignon who joined him in Calgary in 1957. Together they raised and gave their children the best life.
Bruno is survived by his loving wife, Maria of 66 years, five children; Danny Mario (infant son, deceased), Graziella, Roberto (Kathyann), Nadia, and Dennis (Jillian). Proud Nonno of eight grandchildren; Jessica, Alexandra, (Julian), Jack, Nicole, Rebecca, Sarah, Isabella, Emmaleah, as well as Bis-Nonno of three great-grandchildren; Olivia, Theo, and Sophia.
Bruno was a devoted family man who loved his family immensely. His number one pride and joy was his family, especially his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; whom each was given a special nickname.
Bruno was hard working and never boastful; he was a man of refreshing candor. He was proud and worked hard to provide the best life for his wife and children. He worked for many years for numerous big cement companies as a Foreman/Supervisor. After 30 years, Bruno left the cement companies and joined the City of Calgary Transit Department for 12 years; finally retiring in 1997. Due to the popularity of his different types of cement jobs, Bruno recruited his Italian buddies and continued working cement, pouring garage pads, sidewalks, and stamped cement pads; finally, officially retiring in his mid 70’s.
Bruno enjoyed working his garden, making wine, hunting, and was big on socializing with his friends, relatives, and neighbours. Bruno took great pleasure from being around people, especially his family. He was the life of a party and knew how to make people around him smile and enjoy celebrations. Bruno and his wife Maria were blessed to travel back home to Italy on many occasions, as well as to Australia, Arizona, California, Mexico, and Ontario.
Bruno is survived by his sister Palmira in Italy and brother Adelino in Ontario and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada, Florida, California, Italy, Switzerland and Australia.
Bruno was predeceased by his first child, a son, Danny Mario, his parents Paolo and Libera, his brothers Angelo, Matteo, Giovanni, Feruccio, and sisters Maria and Rita.
