Catherine was born on June 27, 1944, in Rosthern, Saskatchewan, to Stanley and Anne Zilkowsky. She spent much of her life building her family and creating lasting friendships in Calgary, the Northwest Territories, and Vernon, where she eventually retired.
Catherine loved the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed good food, travelling, dancing, playing cards, gardening, and following baseball. She was a lifelong Elvis fan and loved staying connected with family and friends, often through long conversations on the phone. Family and friendships were at the centre of her life, and she maintained a large circle of people she cared about throughout the years.
Catherine leaves behind her children, Kevin Bruce and his wife Hang and Sherry Lais; granddaughters Sarah MacKenzie and Abigail MacKenzie; great-grandchildren Lily and Noxley.
She will also be lovingly remembered by her former husband, Gordon Bruce; her sisters Joyce Woodman and her husband Richard and Rosalind Doderai and her husband Vic; sister-in-law Dorothy Zilkowsky; numerous nieces and nephews; and her many dear friends.
Catherine was predeceased by her second former husband, Barry Baldwin; her parents, Stanley and Anne; her brothers Joseph, Walter and Bernard; and her sister Adeline.
She leaves behind a large circle of family and friends who will miss her presence, her phone calls, and the connections she made throughout her life.
A visitation will be held Sunday, September 6, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m. at South Calgary Funeral Centre and Crematorium 12700 Macleod Trail. Calgary, Alberta.
