Cecile A. Nichol

Cecile Annette Nichol passed away peacefully at the Foothills Medical Centre on August 1, 2023 at the age of 71. Cecile is lovingly remembered by her husband of 50 years, Charlie Nichol. Her 3 children Colleen, Patrick and Marie Small (Ernie). Her 2 grandsons Josiah and Charles, and great-granddaughter Valicia. Her siblings Terry Fergusson (Graham), Donna Wyaman (Dave), Patricia Meyers (Derry) and Rick Derry, as well as her many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Cecile is also survived by her brother Robert Derry, her sisters Debbie (Derry) Rothwell and Penny. Her mom and dad June and Audrey Derry.

Cecile was born to June and Audrey Derry on April 2, 1952 in Sault Ste Marie. In 1965, she moved with her family to Calgary, Alberta. In 1971, while working at the YMCA, she met the love of her life: Charlie Nichol. They happily married a month before Christmas on November 25, 1972.

Her legacy began in 1974 with the birth of their first child Marie. Two more additions to the family soon followed; Colleen in August 1976 and Patrick in August 1979. Along with her passion, commitment and love of family and friends; Cecile also loved to bake, crochet and her cats.

A Memorial Service will be held at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South (at Lake Fraser Gate) Calgary, on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Edward Hydzik, formerly of Wildwood Chapel.

The family asks those who are able to attend Cecile's service to please wear bright colours. She was especially fond of pink and turquoise.
