July 7, 1962 – June 23, 2026
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Christine Emily Letby, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 23, 2026, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 63.
Christine was the second child of Bronisław (Bruno) and Halina Stepkowski, born on July 7, 1962, in Calgary, Alberta.
Christine will be lovingly remembered and missed by her mother Halina Stepkowski, her older brother Zenon Stepkowski, younger sisters Elizabeth Tarhan (Celal) and Ava Stepkowski and Christine’s children, Chantell (Chris) Piekarz, Brendan Letby, Kyle Letby and Stephanie Letby and her grandsons Zenon and Fenix Letby. Christine also will be remembered and missed by her extended family, niece Ali (Andrew) Derksen and grandnieces Annabel and Isla, her nieces Savanha Diep and nephew Sabastian Diep, her niece Rachel (Ande) Comber and grandnephew William, her niece Candice (Jonathon) Murray, her nephew Arman Tarhan, and her niece Paige Stafiniak and grandnephew Carson. Christine was predeceased by her father Bronisław Stepkowski.
Throughout her life, Christine was a devoted daughter, often spending time with her parents in Whiterock and Salmon Arm, a nurturing mother to her four children, always providing them with the very best. Christine was an avid traveller and coordinated family trips with her children to Ontario, Niagara Falls, New York, Alaska, Hawaii, Poland, England, France, Italy, Turkey, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic. Family was always paramount, her dedication to her children, her parents, her siblings, her nieces and nephews, her grandsons and also to hose who she unofficially adopted – there were a lot of people who also called her “Mom”.
At one point, Christine purchased property in the Turks & Caicos. Grace Bay was her favourite place in the world, and she wanted everyone to experience the love that she had for Grace Bay. She extended invitations to many friends and family, who were able to appreciate the beauty that Christine saw in this amazing place.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Foothills Hospital for compassion, care, and kindness shown to Christine during her time with them. Your kindness and dedication brought comfort and support to Christine and her family, and your efforts are deeply appreciated. Thank you for making a difference in her life and ours.
A private internment will be held on Monday June 29, 2026, and a service will be held at the Calgary Kingdom Hall Center at 2900 14 Avenue NE, Calgary on July 4th at 2:00 pm. Zoom ID 825 551 7508 – password 581214.
If you wish to honour the memory of Christine, the family encourages others to be generous and supportive of others, similarly to what Christine often did, a kind gesture, a listening ear, or offering help to someone in need can make a meaningful difference.
