Belated condolences to the Holmes family. My parents Bill and Marion were quite fond of Corliss.

We offer our belated condolences from the Yukon.  My family had wonderful memories of Pastor Holmes, & his church, back in the late 1960s and 1970s.  Then we all moved away.  
However, Pastor Holmes and Caroline still cared about us.  My mother, Mrs. Anita Helton, got a monthly phone call, from Pastor Holmes, for years!  An example of the Holmes’ going ‘above and beyond’.
Pastor Holmes married us, in Canmore, in 1989.  Later, I reconnected by sending them a newsletter, often about our life in the Yukon bush.  
Caroline and Corliss were a wonderful, caring team!  The world needs more people like them!

I learned today that Corliss passed away.  I keep in touch with people at Southwood United Church and it was mentioned today, talking about Advent Services where Southwood Ladies would meet with the Lutheran Church Ladies during Advent.  I did get to know Corliss when he lived at Swan Evergreen Village.  My daughter, Lisa was a resident and I visited almost every day.  I often had nice conversations with your father.  He was very kind and caring to Lisa and spoke to her in such a nice manner.  She was very fond of him, and I believe they often shared a table at mealtime.  He was truly a friend to her.

Our family has so many wonderful memories of Pastor Holmes.  From Sunday church services to confirmations, weddings, and baptisms he was such an important part of these very special events.

I will always treasure Coriss's unique chuckle and laugh.  I was fortunate to have known him through our associations with the 92nd Scout group.  He was always a great supporter.  On a more personal level, Corliss helped us navigate through a marriage course which culminated in him performing our marriage ceremony.  He was non judgmental and open to inspiring new ways of examining faith.  He always had a good sense of humour and was a great listener.  Bless you Corliss in your new home.  

We were grateful to attend uncle Cor's funeral service online. To the family, the Brokaw family extends our deepest sympathy.  Uncle Cor was one of the best. Your pastor Laura Holck, uncle Cor's old, old, old, old, old friend, knew him well and provided us a wonderful look into our future. One of my dad's,(Caroline's brother) favorite stories was  mom,dad,Chuck, Janette,  Cor,and Caroline following uncle Bob and aunt Becky on there honeymoon. Uncle Cor threw his "collar" in the back window of the car, and was up for the party. What a wonderful family to grow up with.  All our love,  Randy and Sue  Brokaw.

Sorry to hear of the passing of pastor Holmes. He married my wife and I in august of 1972. I still remember the pre-wedding sessions with him and my fiance. Sadly, my wife passed away ten years ago, but we made it to our 40th anniversary.  I still get a bit sentimental when I drive past the church of the Cross on Elbow drive.
