December 9, 1922 – July 7, 2017
With profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and mother-in-law, Cornelia Diaconescu of Calgary at home surrounded by family on Friday July 7, 2017 at the age of 94. Born in Romania in 1922, she grew up in Medgidia (Romania). In 1945 she married Gheorghe Diaconescu and they had three children. Accompanied by her husband she came to Canada to be with their children and grandchildren in 1986. A dedicated teacher she made a lasting impact on her students who stayed in touch with her well after her retirement. Her passion for teaching was matched only by her love of painting. Born with a natural gift, she was an accomplished artist whose creativity, artwork and vision impacted all those who knew her and her style. Her love of nature, flowers and beauty was present in all her unique creations. She was an example of kindness, dedication and loyalty that will be with us as long as we live. She definitely touched the lives of those around her and she will be forever missed. Her memory and inspired artwork that defined her will always be in our hearts. Relatives and friends are invited to a Prayer Vigil that will be held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 - 4 Street N.W., Calgary on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Service will be on Wednesday July 12, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL followed by Interment at QUEEN’S PARK CEMETERY. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website. www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
“Şi clopotele-n limba lor
Plângeau cu glas tânguitor;
Şi-adânc, din bubuitul frânt
Al bulgărilor de pământ,
Vorbea un glas, un cântec sfânt
Şi nălţător:
Nu cerceta aceste legi,
Că eşti nebun când le-nţelegi!
Din codru rupi o rămurea,
Ce-i pasă codrului de ea!
Ce-i pasă unei lumi întregi
De moartea mea!”
(George Cosbuc)
