Dario Mauro Bott of Calgary, AB passed away peacefully, blessed with the graces of the Holy Catholic Church and in the company of family on Saturday, April 10. His deep Roman Catholic faith sustained him until the end.

He was predeceased by his father Aldo Bott of Salter, Italy, mother Anna Bott (nee Panizza) of Brez, Italy and uncle Ettore Panizza of Brez, Italy.

Dario was a graduate of Bishop Grandin High School and achieved a Business Administration Diploma from Mount Royal College. At Mount Royal he had contributed to the design of the new student union building and the expansion of the college at that time.

Dario proudly worked as a realtor for CIR Realty where his logo was: “Dario Bott and Sold.” He also prided himself on being a property developer, which he did together with his uncle Ettore.

Dario had a love for life. He was an expert downhill skier, conquering the double black diamond ski runs. He was also an avid golfer, enjoyed his travels in Hawaii, and cruising in his classic car, a ‘72 Chevelle. He loved cheering on the Calgary Flames and was a seasons ticket Stampeders football fan.

He was proud to be of Italian heritage, making vino every fall from the California grapes just as his dad and uncle had. We have fond memories with him at the Trentini picnics where we would all play bocce, eat polenta and sausages, and listen to Italian folk music. We will remember his willingness to organize family outings, picnics and dinners to get the family together.

He was generous to his family and friends and was inherently a good old soul. He was the best man at both of his brother's weddings and Godfather to a nephew. He made sure to always be present at the important family events of weddings, funerals, baptisms and confirmations. He very much cherished his nieces and nephews and would spend time with them as often as possible.

We will always remember Dario with his faithful dogs Lily and Rufus by his side wherever he would go.

He will be missed.

If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly the Calgary Alpha House Society, (https://alphahousecalgary.com/).

A private Visitation and private Funeral Mass will be held.

I would like to send my condolences to all of Dario’s friends and the entire Bott family. Dario was the fun uncle Jesse and I never had. I will always remember going skating as a kid on the pond, watching Flames games, going to McMahon stadium and watching the Stamps win, kicking the soccer ball in the back yard with Bianca, playing bocci, Christmas dinners, and his contagious laugh. We had so many great times together. Thank you for all the great memories.

Dario & I met in November 1989 at the Fall ski party at the Calgary Roundup Centre (which coincidentally featured Susan Smith & her band). He was like a second dad/ uncle to my nephews, Jesse & Donnie, & remained a close friend to both my sister & my mother. Dario & I skiied together often for many years. We enjoyed family get togethers & spending time with our dogs, enjoying the outdoors, camping, gardening & cooking. Dario was passionate about the people & animals in our lives. He will be forever in our hearts & lovingly remembered. May God be with you Dario & may you now rest forever in eternal peace.
Love always,
Susan

My friend D always had a big smile on his face. He was there for his friends and was generous to a fault. Golfing, Flames, Stamps, a BBQ dinner, a beer by the fire pit in his back yard... time with him was always fun. He had the patience to grow beautiful tomatoes from seed.

I found it funny that if we stopped halfway down a ski hill to catch our breath, he would have a hard-boiled egg loose in his pocket for a quick snack, and one for everyone else with him that day.
And he even helped me to both "Bott and Sold" my first home.

A grappa to you, D!

I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Dario for a long time. We were friends for 40 years or so. In the 80s he would drop by my apartment unannounced for CFL playoff games. Always brought beer and we had some good times
