Mrs. Darlene Ellen Kessler, daughter of the late Elmer and Esther Parsons was born on August 29, 1952 in Edmonton, Alberta. She attended public schools in Edmonton and participated in Girl Guides and received elementary school athletic awards. Darlene was also confirmed in the Lutheran church in Edmonton.
She had an elder sister, Diann Benz, an elder brother, Elmer Parsons, a younger brother, Larry Parsons, and a younger sister, Kathy Knull.
Darlene married John Kessler on May 9, 1970 and was blessed with three sons, David John Kessler, Bradley James Kessler, who were born in Edmonton, and Michael Jacob Kessler, who was born in Calgary. She was also blessed with three daughters in law, Tonya Johnson, Kathy Frank, and Carolyn Wolfe. Her grandchildren, Brody, Lucas, Jackson, Evan, Samantha, Logan, and Ronan were an absolute joy in her life and she loved them with all of her heart.
Darlene was a very intelligent woman that would always pitch in to help the family finances, doing various jobs that would challenge her. The word “can’t” wasn’t in her vocabulary. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and decorating.
Travelling was also something she enjoyed and she managed to see a lot of places throughout the years.
She departed this life peacefully on September 15, 2023 after 7 years of dealing with Alzheimer’s and dementia surrounded by her sons and her loving husband of 53 years.
The staff and residents at Bethany Riverview and more recently, Tudor Manor always admired her beautiful smiles and infectious laughter.
