Born in Crossfield, Alberta he obtained his Mechanics license in Calgary and worked at General Supply Ltd. (GSL) for several years. In 1954 he started North Hill Glass, now called Cascade Glass Ltd. The business has grown and is a 3rd generation family owned and operated business in Calgary, Alberta. Being a mechanic, he was interested in antique cars and owned many over the years. He enjoyed working on cars and made many friendships from this hobby.
David Allan Gilson was predeceased by his loving wife Esther Gilson of whom he was married to for 64 years. He was also predeceased by his parents William and Ruby, sisters Alice and Donna and his brothers Floyd, Bob and Doug.
David will be missed by his sons; Gary (Teresa), James and daughter Diane. He was a proud grandfather to Dennis (Abby), Kelsey (Nigel), Lisa (Josh) and great grandfather to Hank, Oliver, Ava and Parker.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Scenic Grande Retirement Residences for their care and compassion during his stay.
To honour David’s wishes a private family graveside service will be held.
