ENGLISH, Delbert Francis
September 4, 1922 – April 25, 2011
Delbert Francis “Del” English passed away peacefully at Santuari Hospice at the age of 88 years. He was predeceased by brother Ed and sisters Eleanor and Belva and survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Glenys “Glennie”. Del was a fighter-bomber pilot in WWII followed by a career in the Airforce. After his retirement in 1968, he and Glennie moved to Calgary to be with their family. There he pursued his many interests and enjoyed his family, including grandchildren and great grandchildren. Del leaves behind an impressive legacy through his daughter Cheryl (Allan), son Craig (Lynn), grandchildren Scott (Laura), Alan (Tanya) and Michelle (Andy) and great grandchildren Francis, Addison and Julia. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him but will live on through all our fond memories. The family wishes to express their gratitude and thanks to the caring staff at Santuari Hospice, Dr. Mayhew and the doctors and nurses of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and Foothills Medical Centre. We would also like to thank all involved in the Community Health Services that allowed him to remain in his home. A private family service will be held. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
