I've been thinking about you, Diane and Denis.  I'm putting together a family tree and I've come to you guys.  I went to the pictures on here and remember you both from your wedding, remember when Denis used to come to our house when we were growing up with his mom, auntie Margret.  So long ago and yet, the memories are so vivid in my mind.  I've been wanting to put together a family tree for a long time now and I finally started.  Its amazing how all my memories have come alive when I think of all my relatives and everyone thats touched my heart over the years...I miss Denis and you...xoxo

I'm at a loss for words... Were to start; I've known  Dennis since August 2011...That is to say he was a dispatcher that called me on a daily basis. He was very friendly, always in a good mood and always had a positive spin on every situation. I've never met him in person but always wanted to. My sincere condolences may god bless you and your family with peace in this difficult time.

It was with great sadness I learned of Denis' untimely passing. 

I never had the pleasure of meeting Denis in person. As a conductor/engineer for CP in Ontario, Denis was 'work' calling. But he always made it more more than that, and was quick with a joke, a wise crack, or a long laughing conversation. His voice on the receiver was often the first we'd speak to at the beginning of the day, and no matter what the call entailed, you always hung up with a smile on your face. 

The sense of loss his coworkers (Denis was actually a friend to all of us) feel right now cannot compare to the loss his family, friends, and those closest are feeling. 

In this time of great sadness for his family and friends, I can only hope that we as railroaders can offer some comfort to you, the way Denis offered us when we were called out. He will truly be missed.

My heart goes out to the Arvanitakis family.  Denis shared with me many a great story about life, the railroad and just getting by. From all the Running Trades in Montreal, he will be greatly missed.

I was so shocked and so sorry to hear of Denis' sudden passing.  I have worked with him for many years.  His smile and stories will be missed, but always remembered.  My deepest sympathies for the whole family.  Thank you for sharing the pictures of his happiness.

Dear Arvanitakis Family,

Sorry to hear of the loss of Denis. I am a conductor with CP Rail out of Moose Jaw. Denis was the one Crew Clerk that no matter what time of day or night I got a call when I was a trainee he was a true pleasure to talk too. He was both caring and professional at his job, I remember him calling me on my qualifying run and talking to him for awhile and him telling me good luck and to be safe, to Denis you were more than an employee number, you were a person.

 He truly was a special person that I will never forget. You are all in my thoughts and prayers at this time of loss.

I had the pleasure of meeting Denis from working at CPR. I was discussing how much I was going to miss him from calling me to work in Hamilton because he was moving to the Algoma desk. Dennis was always a happy guy. I was very sad on hearing that he passed away. My condolences go out to his family.

Gerry and I met Denis when we moved from Winnipeg to Montreal in 1995. We didn't know anybody there except our CP family. Denis was kind enough to invite us to his home for Christmas dinner that year. We'll never forget his dog that sat it's behind on the couch. We'll miss you Denis. Condolences to the family.

Having known Denis for more than 25 years I can tell you he was a caring and friendly person. I am honored to count him as a friend

I have only known Denis for 5 years but it feels like a lifetime.  He took every chance he could to proudly talk about his family and even more his granddaughter Evelyn.  Denis trained me at CP and in speaking with him found out that he had even worked with my Father back in Montreal (Outremont yard).  My deepest sympathy to the family, Denis will be missed by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing him.

I will remember Denis as a kind and loving husband and father, but mostly as a most wonderful grandfather to Evelyn. Denis was babysitting and changing diapers and playing with her right from the start. I will also remember him as a best friend and father figure to my son Joel. Joel's profound love for Denis was always apparent, but his passing has left a huge hole in his life. Denis lived for his family and he lives on in the faces of his grandchildren, his little look a likes. Love to all of you.

Please know how much the loss of your husband and father, as well as friend to many, is felt by all who knew him.  Denis had an unquenchable thirst for knowlegde and I so enjoyed our discussions.  He was a kind, gentle man, very endearing.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I had the honour of working with Denis.  His laughter was contagious and I have many pleasant memories of our time together.  Deepest condolences to his family from mine.
