Born in Ardabil, Iran and raised in Tabriz, she left northern Iran to build her seamstress business in the capital of Tehran.
In the 1960’s she met her husband-to-be, Bob Evans of Calgary and married soon after. They moved to Malta and Bob worked in oil & gas in South Africa until he tragically died in a car crash enroute to meet Djeyran at the airport. This was an era before instant communication, and it took days to piece together all that had happened and bring his body back to Canada.
Having already packed up for Malta, Djeyran decided to “temporarily” stay in Canada after Bob’s service and began to piece her life together. She worked hard to improve her English, earn her Canadian citizenship and founded a seamstress business in Calgary.
Debating a return to Iran in the late ‘70s, her father warned her off and after the 1979 Revolution it was no longer an option.
Making her life in Calgary she retired in 1990 and purchased a home in the Willow Court Green complex where she lived quietly for the next 36 years. Jeanne loved to travel, spent time outdoors, which included visiting Spruce Meadows, and puttering around her garden.
She credited her longevity to simple foods, independence and active living. As she was not a driver, she set an appointment or errand every day, taking buses and trains around Calgary. She always returned home in time to cook her dinner.
A Graveside Service will be held at Queen's Park Cemetery, 3219 4 – Street N.W., Calgary, on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., followed by an informal gathering with more information to come.
