Dolores was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she developed the first of her many lifelong friendships. After high school she worked for Great West Life in Winnipeg, and in February 1959 she met her true love Jack at the Valentine’s dance in Gimli Manitoba. They were married in October and lived in Gimli where Jack served in the Airforce. Throughout Jack’s career the family lived in Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Germany and finally Edmonton in 1974, where Dolores lived for the rest of her life. Dolores was very lucky and loved entering contests. Many of the family luxuries were her contest winnings.
Dolores was an outstanding baker, known for her shortbread, which she regularly made for friends and family near and far. She loved keeping in touch with people and never missed a birthday or anniversary of anyone she had met. She kept in touch with her many friends and far away family over email. Her neighbours nicknamed her ‘Smiley’.
Dolores is survived by her children Valerie (Ken), Judy (Jeff), and Alfred (Sue), grandchildren, Nicholas, David, Kristen, Curtis, Robert, Kerry, and Kim, and great-grandchildren, Olivia and Aksel. She will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
