With sadness, love, and gratitude, our family gathered on Saturday, October 19, 2024, to say goodbye to Allan Donald (Don) Anderson. Don died peacefully, surrounded by the family he built with his wife of 69 years, Florence Anne Anderson, who passed away in 2018. Don and Florence were married on December 23, 1949, and had three children, Doug, Deb and Karen. Their family grew to include Ingrid, Brian, and Rob. More branches sprouted, with grandchildren Shayla and Rodd (Deb and Brian), Brayden and Kelsey (Doug and Ingrid), and Amie (Karen and Rob). The Anderson Oak continues to branch out, welcoming Grayson, Victoria, and Kellie, and great-grandchildren, Desi and Sam (Shayla and Grayson), Ava, Bella, and Emma (Rodd and Victoria), Savannah and Scarlett (Brayden and Kellie), and Sabina (Amie).
Don was the last of his generation. Born in Calgary on February 12, 1928, to Gerald and Agnes Anderson, he was close to his many brothers and sisters. The Clan got together for a yearly family campout. Their shenanigans are legendary. The stories of their exploits continue to be told at extended gatherings of the Anderson Clan.
Anyone who knew Don knew him as a true gentleman. Over almost 97 years, he earned the respect and admiration of those in his life with his wisdom, integrity, and mischievous sense of humour. He loved his family, the outdoors, music, and telling stories. We will remember camping, hunting, golfing, skating, skiing, swimming in the ocean, sitting around a fire, and laughing with our Dad, Grandpa, GG, father-in-law, and best friend. We will miss him. We will cherish his legacy of love and family.
A Celebration of Don’s life will be held in the neighbourhood where our family shares so many memories. Mount Pleasant Community Hall (602 22 Ave NW) on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Parking lot entrance is off of 23 Ave and 5 St NW.
