He was born in Hoosier, Saskatchewan on January 19, 1928 on the farm, in the pantry, and his birth certificate related to an LSD number. Don was the youngest in his family, having three sisters and three brothers. Don met his wife, Lucille Fenton, in high school, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and were married for over 50 years.
Don spent the majority of his working career in the Western Canadian Oil Patch, and retired in 1995. He was a founding member of Canyon Meadows Golf and Country, and a longtime volunteer member of the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede working on the Downtown Attractions Committee.
Don’s life time joy was spending time at the family cabin on Shuswap Lake with Lucille and their family. Don discovered, surveyed and built, by hand, a cabin on the lake with good friend, Bill Deyell. They enjoyed their little piece of heaven for the next 50 years with family and friends. Don always said that his dream had come true by owning a boat and cabin on a lake. Pretty good for a farm boy from the prairies.
Don was predeceased by his wife Lucille in 2008. He is survived by his sons Larry (Sandy), Darrell (Christina), Randy (Lorelee), numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
