Born in Saskatchewan in 1938, Donelda grew up in Eatonia, Saskatchewan with her parents, Edward and Wanda Nunweiller and two sisters, Ruth and Jean. At an early age Donelda’s father passed away. After high school Donelda sought adventure, enlisting in the Canadian Air Force where she received her post-secondary education. She was stationed in a number of Canadian cities and following the Air Force, finally settled in Calgary, Alberta where she met her husband to-be Allan Stern.
Together they built a life of eventful farming and ranching while raising two children, Catherine and Clint. Donelda was a loving mother with a big heart who cared for her family and friends, in addition to the household pets.
Later, when the children were older, Donelda continued to keep active by working for the Royal Bank in the neighbouring town of Beiseker; after retirement, Donelda worked as a volunteer at the Acme Legion.
She will be reminisced for her polite and always friendly disposition. Her last few years were spent at the Newport Harbour Care Centre and we would like to thank the staff for affectionately caring for her during her final years.
Donelda is lovingly remembered by her husband Allan Stern; son Clint Stern, daughter-in-law, Lori Stern, and Donelda’s grandson Bradley Stern; Donelda’s daughter Catherine Cipriano and son-in-law Marcelino Cipriano; along with her compassionate nieces and nephews and extended family.
