Donna Ray Knowler

Donna Ray was born in Medicine Hat, AB, the daughter of Evelyn (nee Kurpjuweit) and Al Price. She is survived by her husband of over fourty-six years Daryl and her three children Tricia, Tyler (Gaylene), Taryn (Samarth) Kapoor and her grandson Asher Kapoor. Donna Ray had a lifelong love of her pets and leaves behind her favourite dog ever Beans, a Boston Terrier, Cargo and Ivy, the Black Labs and Marley the cat. She is also survived by her “least favourite child” Jana and her three brothers Garth (Cheryl), Rick (Lucy) and Raymond (Joan) Price. Donna Ray left Medicine Hat at eighteen years old to move to Calgary, where Daryl’s dad brought her to work in his jewelry business. She soon became his daughter-in-law and Daryl’s wife. Her proudest accomplishment was being a stay-at-home mom to her three kids. She then went to work part-time and then full-time for many years as a book keeper at HD Cartwright Junior High School. There she met her many great friends including the “Nickel Girls” (Rummoli). Donna Ray loved quilting, sewing, crocheting, cooking and baking. She loved to shop and was always on the look-out for a bargain! Donna Ray and Daryl loved trips to Las Vegas, Phoenix, Hawaii, Palm Springs, New York and Montana. She loved playing crib at the Dalhousie Community Centre. Donna Ray’s main philosophy was to help everyone in any way she could. She made a baby quilt for everyone’s baby we knew and volunteered in the Dalhousie community. Donna Ray passed away with her husband, daughters and her beloved Beans by her side. Thank you to all the staff, nurses and doctors, especially Dr. Michelle Wong and Dr. Eglee Giman on Unit 47, Tom Baker Cancer Center at the Foothills Hospital. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
