Dorothy passed away on Monday, June 8, 2020 in Sundre, Alberta at the age of 96 years.
She was born on Christmas Day, 1923 and grew up during the Great Depression and lived through the Second World War as a single young woman in Calgary. Her best friends were her sisters Marion and Jean. She married Edward David Johnston just after the war and life gradually became better and better.
She is survived by her two children John and Marion; four grandchildren, Jennifer, David, Christopher and Kathryn; and five great grandchildren.
She aspired to be the best wife and mother that she could be. Along the way, she made friends that lasted a lifetime, and years after she had moved away, they still kept in touch with her. Despite the fact that her final years were made difficult by disease, she generally managed to keep her sense of humor and to make friends with those around her. She lived up to the ideals that she believed in.
