May 17, 2020 Calgary, Alberta
Doug passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 74 years.
Doug was a loving and caring husband and father. He was always available for his family whether picking up his boys from basketball or gymnastics, or driving the family around on their routes delivering early morning papers. Doug had always been a huge fan of Mustang cars, owning three in his life time. His pride and joy was a vintage 1967 fire engine red, coupe GTA. He was a former member of the Alberta Mustang Club of Calgary. When Doug was able to, he enjoyed travelling with his family to Hawaii. Later when he retired, Doug and Norine travelled to Europe to see many different countries: England, France, Italy, Germany and they even travelled the Mediterranean. Doug had a quick wit, but enjoyed peace and quiet. Those who knew Doug know how much he enjoyed his fireplace, especially during cold winter nights, but also during the warm summer nights. There never was a bad time to have a fire in the fireplace.
With his passing his flame will burn on inside his wife Norine, sons Sean (Karine), Scott (Carissa); and his grandchildren Ayden Winter, Kolton, Kaylee, Bryanna Knee and newly born Savannah. He was predeceased by his parents William and Ivy Pankhurst.
