It has been many years since Doug lived here in Dartmouth and Bedford, but the memory of the contributions he made serving on many community building committees and institutions are very clear.  Especially as secretary, he devoted countless hours to carry out those duties, never complaining.  I don't think an unkind word ever cross his lips.  Whenever I see the name MONTY PYTHON I think of Doug, as that was at least one of his favorite types of humor.  Dear Diana and children, you have my heartfelt sympathy for the pain you have had during his illness and now as you must continue on without him. I knew Doug from Dal Radio.  I have nothing but fond memories of him.  Doug was compassionate, intelligent, and funny.  I am sad that he is gone.  My heart goes out to his family for the loss of such an outstanding person.

We were surprized to hear of Doug's passing but we had lost touch since he enriched our community here in the Halifax Area in the 1980s.  We are consoled by these words from Baha'u'llah the Founder of the Baha'i Faith that tell us he is now viewing worlds "spiritually glorious":

"O My servants! Sorrow not if, in these days and on this earthly plane, things contrary to your wishes have 
been ordained and manifested by God, for days of blissful joy, of heavenly delight, are assuredly in store 
for you. Worlds, holy and spiritually glorious, will be unveiled to your eyes. You are destined by Him, in 
this world and hereafter, to partake of their benefits, to share in their joys, and to obtain a portion of their
 sustaining grace. To each and every one of them you will, no doubt, attain."

I am sad to read about Douglas's passing. I remember his family well, and he was one of my little Sunday School students at St. James Church in Oxford when I was a teenager in the early 60's.  My sincere condolences to Doug's family.

My sincere condolence to Doug's family. I am sorry to hear of Doug's passing; we grew up together in N.S. starting school and finishing school together;  his pain and suffering are over and he is in a much better place.  I know that at this time it is hard to adjust to losing a loved one but rest assured that our Heavenly Father will guide you along in the days to come.
