She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Dahl (1999); parents Peter and Katherine Befus; sisters Mary Hettinger, Katie Heddinger and Polly Platt; as well as brothers Albert, Danny, Eddy, and Roy Befus.
Eileen was born on March 13, 1921 in Calgary, where she grew up. One of her first jobs was working at the General Hospital in the children’s dietitian ward. At the age of 19, she married Art Dahl and had two children, a son Robert (Bob) and daughter, Diana. Eileen spent her working years in the retail divisions of The Hudson Bay Company, Holt Renfrew, Zellers, and Sears and then retired at age 57.
Eileen and Art had a wide circle of friends, and were avid dart players who played for the Victoria Park Pioneer Dart Club, and also frequently hosted card and game nights at their home. They were also an active part of the congregation for many years at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Forest Lawn. Eileen was also known for her love of reading, her fondness for country music, as well as being talented with knitting and crochet. She will be fondly remembered for her generosity, kind heart, and gentle spirit and very much missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
The family would like to thank the staff at AgeCare Midnapore for their care and compassion for Eileen on her final journey.
