OBITUARY

Elia Rosa De Giusti

15 September, 1933 – 12 May, 2026
IN THE CARE OF

South Calgary Funeral Centre and Crematorium

It is with deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Elia Rosa De Giusti, lovingly known as Rosa, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 12, 2026.

Born in Mansué (TV) Italy, Rosa was the first daughter among eight siblings and carried a deep sense of family, strength, and devotion throughout her life.

Rosa is survived by her cherished children, Alessio and Susie, and her treasured grandchildren, Isabella and Antonio, who brought immense joy and pride to her life. She is also survived by her beloved sister Anna Nespolo (Lunardelli) and brother Cesare Nespolo along with many nephews and nieces in Italy and Argentina.

In 1953, in the small town of Mansué, Rosa met the love of her life, Tony De Giusti. After a long courtship, they married in 1957 and together began a new chapter in Calgary, building a life rooted in hard work, love, sacrifice, and family. Their bond was one of deep devotion and partnership that lasted far beyond Tony’s passing in January 2022.

While raising her family, Rosa became known for her remarkable talent as a seamstress, creating garments ranging from everyday dresses to elegant ball gowns worthy of the grandest occasions. Her creativity, skill, and attention to detail were woven into every piece she made.

Each year, Rosa could be found tending to her garden, cultivating a harvest that by today’s standards would be considered truly impressive. Her garden provided the fresh vegetables she lovingly used to prepare unforgettable meals for family and friends. No one ever left her home hungry. Rosa proudly passed her love of cooking and family traditions on to both Alessio and Susie. Among her many delicious dishes, her spinach noodle lasagna was simply unmatched and will forever remain a treasured memory to those fortunate enough to gather around her table.

Rosa also surrounded herself with beauty in simple ways. Flowers were always present in her home, and she cared for her cherished geraniums as though they were her children. It brings comfort to know that she is now surrounded by beautiful things once again, reunited in heaven with her beloved Tony, dancing together as they once did.

Rosa will be remembered not only for all she did for her family, but for her warm smile, easygoing spirit, welcoming nature, and the quiet love she gave so freely. Her presence brought comfort, nourishment, beauty, and strength to those around her. The void left by her passing will forever be felt, yet her spirit and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

May she rest peacefully, reunited with her beloved Tony.

There will be a Visitation on Thursday, May 21st from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at South Calgary Funeral Centre (12700 Macleod Trail S).
